600 gigabytes of duplicates.

That is what one wealth management firm found when it hashed every file sitting in its SharePoint. Twenty five years of people copying client folders into new engagement structures, migrating from one system to another, and saving “just in case” versions had produced a document vault where more than half the storage was identical files in different locations.

The duplicates weren’t the real problem. The real problem was that no one could tell, at a glance, which copy was authoritative. So advisors hedged. They opened both. They updated both, or neither. Compliance reviews took longer because reviewers didn’t know which version to cite.

Storage is cheap. Ambiguity about which document is current is not.

Cleaning that up manually would have taken months. What LEA does is hash the vault, surface the duplicates with their locations, and let the firm decide which copy to keep — with the confidence that the rest of the vault isn’t affected.
