One of the more interesting firm profiles I’ve come across recently: a wealth management firm built around assets and liability management, where the investment side and the insurance side are fully married together.
Liz, their ops lead, described it simply: “Ours is based in assets and liability management, so we’re all about hedging the risk. We’ve married the investment management with the insurance side.”
That structure creates a document environment that is genuinely more complex than a standard RIA. Custodial statements, annuity contracts, policy documents, hedging agreements, all living in the same vault, arriving with inconsistent naming from every source.
What struck me about the conversation was how clearly Liz connected the organization problem to the AI problem. Before you can ask an agent to find anything, the structure has to reflect what the documents actually contain.
Firms like this one are not waiting for AI to get smarter. They are building the foundation that makes AI useful right now.
This is going to be fun.
